KEWL Logistics
KEWL is not simply a call sign - it means innovation!
The plans for the Elwood Logistics Airport include a highly innovative plan to leverage underutilized adjacent warehouse capacity to enable a fifth cargo terminal. By developing a dedicated rail line, which would operate independent of the U.S. Rail network, additional cargo terminal capacity can be available for a fifth cargo carrier operating at an adjacent warehouse with more than adequate amenities of the four planned KEWL terminal cargo facilities.
Initally, the KEWL Rail-Link operating plan includes rolling stock in fly KEWL livery . But, Rail-Link is currently developing specialized railcars for directly handling air cargo containers, or Unit Loading Devices (ULDs) to transfer from arriving aircraft and the offsite terminal facility for processing, or reverse.
Innovative Development at KEWL Rail-Link
Two new exciting projects have kicked off at Rail-Link for streamlining logistics. The Linkerover Terminal project is intended to offer a low cost solution for expanding existing air cargo terminal capacity and the Trans-Link Experiment is intended to evaluate innovative concepts for integrating truck and rail freight movements.
